Protection of Privacy and Confidentiality

Donors and Visitors to 50 Mile March Social Media and Marketing Outlets

50 Mile March is the sole owner of the information collected on its website and or other social media platforms. We do not share, sell, or exchange this information.

50 Mile March collects information from the users of its website at several different points on the site. We use our visitors’ Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track their movement and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use, however the IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

It is possible that if you register for a program or newsletter that you may receive an online fundraising appeal from 50 Mile March. Only email addresses or regular mail addresses would be used for this purpose; we do not use treatment/condition related information to target any potential contributors.
Users may request to be removed from mailing lists at any time. To review or request corrections to your personal information collected by 50 Mile March, please contact us at director@50milemarch.org.

Visitors to 50 Mile March who make monetary contributions through the website are asked to provide information, which is kept on a proprietary database. We will not share, sell or exchange donor information for third party’s fundraising or marketing purposes.

Donor information is considered confidential and therefore is not shared, sold or exchanged for any purpose outside of our regular organizational activities and programs. Donor information is held on a secure donor database with only staff log-in access granted for those who need to access that information for correspondence and marketing purposes. Donors have the right to remain “anonymous” and also to have a designation “do not solicit” and those designations are enforced throughout the agency.

50MM collects information that enables us to identify you, directly or indirectly, by reference to an identifier such as your name, identification number, location data, online identifier or one or more factors specific to you. (“Personally Identifiable Information”).

Personally Identifiable Information we collect from third parties

We may receive Personally Identifiable Information about you from third parties such as social media services, commercially available sources, business partners etc. The Personally Identifiable Information collected may include your name, contact information and your transactions/purchase history, demographic data, information about your activities on other websites etc.

If, for example, you access us through a social media service then the information we collect may include content the social media service will share with us. The information we obtain depends on your privacy settings on the applicable social media platform and that can be changed by you at any time. When you access us through social media services you are authorizing 50MM to collect, store and use such information and content in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Non-Personal Information collected via technology

As you interact with 50MM Sites, 50MM may also collect information about your browsing history or certain other information through your use of and visits to the Sites and our use of a variety of technologies, including, but not limited to, cookies, tags, web beacons, Internet Protocol (IP) address, and other tools.

“Cookies” are pieces of code/text placed on your computer when you browse 50MM Sites. 50MM or third party advertisers may place cookies. “Tags” and web beacons refer to code scripts that are primarily used to track visitors’ activities on our Sites by web analytics software. The types of data collected on our Sites through the use of these, and other tools as 50MM may add from time to time, may include: the search terms you used, new or returning user data, browser information, computer type, operating system, internet service providers, website usage, referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, number of clicks, ads viewed, etc. Additionally, cookies, tags and other tools placed by third parties may collect other information about you and your visits to Sites and elsewhere on the Internet including, but not limited to, your industry, company size, job function, seniority level, etc.

Use of Personally Identifiable Information

Personally Identifiable Information may be used in a variety of ways including, but not limited to:

  • Provide service communications such as annual/quarterly/monthly renewals, bill reminders, order confirmations, program registrations, and member messages;
  • Respond to emails or online requests for programs, services, or information;
  • To deliver and process surveys in an effort to enrich 50MM’s programs and services;
  • Personalize and improve the usability of 50MM Sites;
  • Fulfill and/or deliver top quality 50MM programs and services;
  • Publish membership directories and registration lists as described below;
  • Tailor content, advertising and marketing;
  • Share with third parties as required by law or to protect 50MM as described below;
  • Share your email address as described below;
  • Properly administer our Sites;
  • Ensure Site content is properly delivered to your device; and
  • Keep our Sites secure.

Membership Directories and Registration Lists

To allow 50MM members and the public to find members, the Personally Identifiable Information 50MM receives may be published on 50MM Sites and other print or digital media, in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, directories, membership lists, and other types of registration lists for 50MM programs and events (“Directory Lists”). Directory Lists will never include sensitive or financial information, such as credit card or bank information, or social security numbers. Users may request that their information be suppressed from Database/Directory Lists by contacting director@50milemarch.org.

Sharing Personally Identifiable Information for Business Purposes.

When fulfilling service requests initiated by members, 50MM may share Personally Identifiable Information with certain third parties to fulfill such requests. 50MM may also share such information with service providers that perform business functions. For example, 50MM occasionally contracts with other companies to provide limited services including, but not limited to, packaging, mailing and delivering promotional offers, answering membership questions about programs or services, consulting services, data modeling, printing, sending postal mail and processing event registrations.

Sharing Personally Identifiable Information when Legally Necessary or to Protect 50MM Interests.

50MM may disclose Personally Identifiable Information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with a legal process served on 50MM; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of 50MM; or (c) protect the personal safety of 50MM personnel or members in appropriate circumstances. In addition, if 50MM and/or its assets (or a portion of its assets) are sold, assigned, transferred, or merged, information may be transferred as part of that transaction or change.

Children

50MM will not knowingly collect personal data online from or market online to children under 18 years of age.

Information Security

50MM implements commercially reasonable security measures to help protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or destruction of data. Except for Directory Lists and the sharing of information as set forth in this Privacy Policy, 50MM restricts access to personal information to certain companies who may need to know that information in order to operate, develop, or improve our services. These individuals or partner organizations are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Accordingly, and despite our efforts, 50MM cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, or to or from our online programs or services. Linking to Other Internet Sites

Internet sites that are linked from the Sites or from an 50MM email message may contain privacy provisions that differ from the provisions of this Privacy Policy. To ensure your privacy is protected, 50MM recommends that you review the privacy statements of linked sites, applications, or other digital platforms.

Donor Privacy Policy

The 50 Mile March Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We rely entirely on contributions from foundations, corporations, and private individuals. Contributions to 50MM are tax-deductible.

50MM respects the privacy of its donors and has put in place a Donor Privacy Policy to honor these rights.

Donor information

50MM collects and maintains the following types of donor information when it is voluntarily provided to us:

  • Contact information such as name, address, telephone number and e-mail address
  • Payment information: credit card number and expiration date and billing information.
  • Giving information
  • Requests to receive periodic updates and information: e.g., mailings and/or e-mails
    related to specific activities, fund-raising events, or appeals and newsletters.
  • Information provided by the donor in the form of comments and suggestions

This confidential information is kept on file for IRS purposes. It is also used to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make more accurate budget projections, as well as to understand donors’ interests in our mission and to update them on the organization’s plans and activities. This information may be shared with staff, board members, and consultants only on a confidential and need-to-know basis.

Donor Bill of Rights

50MM subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights, which was created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Giving Institute: Leading Consultants to Non-Profits.
