Marching to Save Lives, Provide Homes
For the 5th year, Veterans and their supporters will trek from the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln to Nebraska Brewing Company in La Vista. The “50 Mile March” is a mission with a life-saving message to help Veterans who are struggling with homelessness or mental health challenges.
For years, Bill Reese has made that trek because he came very close to being one of the 22-estimated Veterans who die by every day in the United States. Reese is an Army Veteran, a former paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. “I was the type of person that would have a very nice smile on my face. I would laugh all the time,” Reese said. But in 2019, depression really started weighing him down. That was the year Reese nearly took his life three times.
