Retired Sgt. Todd Kozelichki is a nearly 29 year law enforcement veteran. He started out at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 and moved over to the Omaha Police Department (OPD) in 1998. While at OPD, Todd worked in several units, to include Uniform Services, the Southeast Metro Unit (gangs, street level narcotics, and prostitution investigations), and the Burglary and Robbery Units. Todd spent 8.5 years in the Homicide / Cold Cases Units. In June 2010, Todd was promoted to Sergeant. He again worked within several investigative units before finally being assigned to the Gang Unit / Firearms Squad his last 10.5 years. While at the Omaha Police Department, Todd received the 2007 Jack Swanson – Lloyd Grimm Omaha Crimestoppers Officer of the Year award for his work done on several officer-involved and in-custody death investigations along with the mass-murder investigation at the Von Maur department store within the Westroads Mall. He also received the September 2009 Omaha Police Foundation’s Officer of the Month award for his work conducted on the cold case homicide investigation that involved a local area actress, victim Pasinetta Prince. After 25 years with the Omaha Police Department, Todd retired on October 13, 2023. After taking a few months off, Todd went back to the police department on a part-time basis to assist with firearm research for the Property Unit. Todd has also been volunteering and fundraising for two local non-profit organizations (50 Mile March and MSforward) since retirement.
Todd received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Government from Northwest Missouri State University in 1992. He also has Minors in Mathematics and Criminal Justice. Todd held a prior certification as a Nebraska secondary education teacher with a specialty in Mathematics, along with being a certified law enforcement instructor through the Omaha Police Department and the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Academy located in Grand Island, Nebraska. Todd has provided instruction to the Omaha Police Department, the Omaha Fire Department, other agencies, and local universities in reference to crime scene investigations, homicide investigations, and firearms investigations. Todd has also taught several Criminal Justice courses between 2004 and the present at Nebraska College of Business, Hamilton College, ITT Technical Institute and Metropolitan Community College.
Todd has been married for over 30 years to his wife Kim. They currently have a 15 year old chocolate lab / chow mix.
